Why Fixed Eyes?
Your eyes are either fixed on Jesus, or fixed on the world.
Fixing your eyes on Jesus means that you have put away the desire for all things of this world, and your attention is completely on Him. “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your mind on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Col 3:1) Do not fix your eyes on the things of this world, because whoever “sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction” (Gal 6:8). However, when you fix your eyes on Jesus, you are one who “sows to please the Spirit, [and] from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” (Gal 6:8) We are running a race on this earth (Heb 12:1), so “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Heb 12:1-2).
